Madonna's
follow-up album to Like
A Prayer was also the soundtrack for the
'Dick Tracy'-movie (in which Madonna
plays the role of Breathless Mahoney - hence
the name of the soundtrack album).
Only 3 of the 12 tracks were actually from
the 'Dick Tracy'-movie itself: 'Sooner
Or Later', 'More' and 'What
Can You Lose'. All three tracks were written
by Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim. 'Sooner
Or Later' won an Academy Award in 1991
as 'Best Song from a Motion Picture'
- not to forget is Madonna's legendary performance
of the song at the Oscars.
At the time, 'I'm Breathless' was Madonna's
least successful album featuring new material.
It has sold an estimated 6 million copies
worldwide. |
