The release of Madonna's
first Greatest Hits-album The
Immaculate Collection was also the best oppurtunity
to compile a collection of Madonna's best video-clips
from 1983-1990.
Released in 1990 on VHS and LaserDisc [it was re-issued
on DVD in 1999], the compilation was a bestseller
and was last certified in the US in 1994 as 3x Platinum
[300'000 sold copies].
Since the DVD has been released 5 years later it
is believed that the compilation has broken the
barrier of 500'000 sold copies for quite a while
already which makes it one of the best-selling video
compilations by an artist ever!
The compilation was the winner of a MTV Video Music
Award as Best Long-Form Video in 1991.
While quite a few videos are actually missing on
this compilation, most noteably Burning
Up, Live
To Tell, True
Blue, Who's
That Girl and Dear
Jessie, it is believed that they will get released
from Madonna's vault one day to be included on one
complete career-spanning compilation. |
