Beautiful
Stranger was specifically written for an inclusion
on this soundtrack. The film, which is the 2nd part
in the Austin Powers-trilogy, is starring Mike Myers
and Heather Graham and was one of the biggest box
office hits in 1999.
Madonna's Beautiful
Stranger is clearly the stand-out track on this
soundtrack sampler, however there are some other
cool tracks to be found on it, most noteably by
R.E.M., Lenny Kravitz [co-writer of Madonna's 1990
hit-single Justify
My Love] and The Lucy Nation [a Swedish band
which was signed to Madonna's record label Maverick
in 1999].
Like the film, the soundtrack-album for 'Austin
Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me' was a huge hit
and ended up selling more than 2 million copies
in the US! Much of this success goes to Madonna's
Beautiful
Stranger which wasn't available as a single
in the USA, therefore forcing customers to buy the
entire soundtrack.

Stranger.
The soundtrack was so successful it was soon decided
to release a 2nd
part, inluding more songs from [and inspired]
by the film. Included on this 2nd
soundtrack sampler was the Victor Calderone
Remix of 'Beautiful Stranger'. |
