'Possessive Love', performed by Marilyn Martin, was co-written by Madonna.

The origin of the song is unclear while most believe that the track is an actual left-over from the Who's That Girl-sessions. While Madonna herself recorded a version of her own, it was soon dropped from an inclusion on any of her projects and was offered to Marilyn Martin.

Madonna does not sing any background vocals on Marilyn's version - it's Madonna's long-time backup-singer Donna De Lory you hear.

The singer, who is probably best-known for 'Seperate Lives', a duet with Phil Collins, recorded it for her 2nd album This Is Serious and also released the track as the first single from the album. Unfortunately with little success on the charts.

Later on, Marilyn Martin provided background-vocals on Cherish, one of Madonna's hit-singles in 1989.
